Footwear Certifications, Audits and Compliance Evidence

A logo is not enough. Shoetec recommends checking the holder, issuing body, site, standard, product, scope and validity of every audit, certificate and test report before using it in supplier approval or product claims.

Project snapshot

Which footwear certification applies to which claim?

A factory audit, management-system certificate, material certification and product test report prove different things. Buyers should check the legal entity, site, product or material, issue date, validity and model scope before relying on any document.

Proof before promise

Read the scope before the logo

Only publish redacted or full documents when permission exists and sensitive information is protected. Add a clear caption explaining scope and current status.

Current certificate register

Maintain issuer, holder, site, number, standard, scope, issue and expiry information with an owner.

Verification links

Where an issuer provides a public database, give buyers the appropriate record or verification path.

Model-to-report matrix

Map product codes and critical components to relevant tests, certificates and declarations.

Limitations statement

State clearly that network or supplier documents do not automatically apply to every Shoetec project.

The Shoetec Footwear Development & Sourcing Team reviewed this Certifications page for technical and commercial accuracy on . Scope, compliance, quantities and timing remain order-specific and are confirmed in writing.

Before we quote

Audit, certificate and test report are not interchangeable

Each document answers a different question. Combining them into a generic 'certified factory' claim can mislead buyers and create compliance risk.

Management and social audits

Documents such as ISO 9001 or BSCI-related audit records concern a named organization or site and their stated scope.

Material and chain claims

GRS and similar schemes require attention to certified parties, product scope, transaction records and claim rules.

Product compliance

CE, EN ISO 20345, ASTM F2413 or other references depend on product, market, test method and responsible economic operator.

Scope before badge

Verify what the document actually proves

Shoetec's public pages currently reference ISO 9001, BSCI and GRS, and elsewhere mention CE and ASTM F2413. Before publishing copies or broad statements, confirm current validity, holder, site and applicability.

A certificate logo is not enough

Shoetec’s current content references ISO 9001, BSCI and GRS. These should be presented with certificate owner, scope, validity and relevance—not as blanket certification of every shoe.

  • Check document number, holder, address, issuer and validity date.
  • Confirm the standard edition and exact product or organizational scope.
  • Ask whether the document belongs to Shoetec, a partner factory, material supplier or client.
  • Record which changes require retesting, notification or new certification.
  • Use qualified legal or compliance advice for destination-market obligations.

From brief to bulk

Check compliance document by document

The purpose is not to collect the largest number of badges; it is to close the evidence gap for the intended market and product.

Define obligations

Identify destination, product type, claims, channel and the buyer's internal supplier requirements.

Build an evidence list

Separate factory audit, quality management, restricted substances, material claims and product tests.

Verify the document

Check issuer, holder, site, model, standard, dates, pages and authenticity where verification is available.

Assess product linkage

Compare tested or certified construction and components with the product being ordered.

Control changes

Review substitutions, new suppliers, color or process changes for compliance impact before approval.

Retain records

Store relevant reports, declarations, approvals and production-lot links for the required period.

Questions buyers ask

Certification and compliance FAQs

Is Shoetec ISO 9001 certified?

The current website makes an ISO 9001 claim. Before final publication, verify the certificate holder, site, scope, issuer and validity; provide the applicable document on request.

Does GRS mean every shoe is recycled-certified?

No. GRS-related claims depend on certified organizations, materials, chain-of-custody and transaction evidence. Each finished-product claim needs scope review.

Are all safety shoes CE or EN ISO 20345 compliant?

No blanket assumption should be made. Request the exact model's documents and confirm applicable standard, classification, holder and market responsibilities.

Can Shoetec advise on import law?

Shoetec can coordinate manufacturing documents and test discussions, but buyers should use qualified legal and compliance professionals for final market obligations.
