A midsole built in layers
The midsole is built in layers: a penetration plate, a cushioning foam and a rubber outsole. Nails, glass and metal swarf hit the plate and stop there. That build suits construction, scrap yards and demolition work.
Kevlar plates instead of steel
We press Kevlar or composite plates into the midsole. They pass the same 1100N penetration test as steel, bend with the foot instead of resisting it, and add far less weight across a shift.
